CNN Poll: Obama Hemorrhaging, Not Healing Democrats

How is it that Hillary Clinton has gained 8 points since getting out of the race? From CNN.

One week after Sen. Hillary Clinton made a public show of unity with Sen. Barack Obama, a new survey suggests supporters of the New York senator are increasingly less likely to follow her lead.

A growing number of Clinton supporters polled say they may stay home in November instead of casting their ballot for Obama, an indication the party has yet to coalesce around the Illinois senator four weeks after the most prolonged and at times divisive primary race in modern American history came to a close.

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Friday, the number of Clinton supporters who plan to defect to Republican Sen. John McCain's camp is down from one month ago, but -- in what could be an ominous sign for Obama as he seeks to unify the party -- the number of them who say they plan to vote for Obama is also down, and a growing number say they may not vote at all.

In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey completed in early June before the New York senator ended her White House bid, 60 percent of Clinton backers polled said they planned on voting for Obama. In the latest poll, that number has dropped to 54 percent.

In early June, 22 percent of Clinton supporters polled said they would not vote at all if Obama were the party's nominee, now close to a third say they will stay home.

CNN speculates that there hasn't been enough time for the wounds to heal, and that many more Democrats will come into the fold by November.

Could be that Obama is a inexperienced politician whose flip flops are so glaring, that normal Democrats have realized that there is only one adult in this race, and rather than damage the country, they will vote for McCain or just stay home.

to completely beleaguer the voters, in a haze between the heat and the economic upheaval, so that they won't remember what happened before the convention?

I think that BHO should enjoy the halcyon days of June. October will be rough for him.

He's still a fairly blank slate. Voters like him but they don't know why.

Once they see how shallow and empty he is, they will question whether they want a rookie with no military or business experience in control of the most powerful military and the most powerful economy in the world. (Europe isn't 1 economy, it's 26 semi-independent economies. Sorry, Europhiles...)

Proudly supporting John S. McCain for President (McCain/Romney?)

& the Cries of Unity by Whitehorse

will come forth even more fervently. Dangit, they're going to be unified if it kill's (figuratively) 'em! We know the MSM will exploit any division between McCain & segments of the Republican/conservative base - we should make sure that the divisions in the Democrat/left are not forgotten.

McCain came out for more drilling, people of every political stripe except the hard left have viewed him more favorably. With gas prices what they are, McCain's position on global warming is basically moot. Even if he desires to implement cap and trade, the political reality of prices will prevent him from accomplishing anything in this regard. Throw in the fact that we and our Iraqi allies are kicking @ss in that GWOT theatre, and Obama is politically screwed.

actual science that's been done instead of the hyped theory being sold like snake oil. I don't think this is going to happen though.
